Mac Mini Arrived!

My order from Apple arrived this afternoon, much to my delight. I’d called the courier company on monday, and they said it hadn’t arrived in Canada yet, so it would be another 2-3 days. The shipping company Apple uses for Canada has no tracking capabilities until the package is in Canada - basically the last 24 hours of the trip.

Took me all of about 10 minutes to unbox, plug-in, boot up and starting using it - OSX w/iLife ‘05 is preinstalled, so the only questions it asks are your name/.Mac Account/Location one - everything else is ready to go.

While I ordered them with only 256MB of Ram, I haven’t noticed the need to use any more. The only time it seems to slow down is on my 10,000 track iTunes Library, which fills most of my Mini’s 54GB drive. I’ve got an 80GB external USB drive at home I’ll connect up eventually to hold most of that stuff, but for now it’s fully self contained.

The 2nd one is for my Mom, to replace her aging P2-300 that’s been her PC for nearly 3 years now (she inherited it from my Dad, and the CPU is actually from a system I had when I lived at home 6 years ago!). She’s never used a Mac, so it’ll be an interesting experience she’l looking forward to.
